What is a resident council?

A resident council is a group of residents from the building that represents the voice of all residents. The resident council acts as a link between residents and the housing company, brings forward suggestions, and makes initiatives to improve comfort and community.

What are the tasks of a resident council?

• The resident council negotiates with Sevas on general matters affecting rental housing and residents’ position, such as the budget, financial statements, maintenance, and house rules.
• It annually submits a proposal to the general meeting for members and deputy members to be selected from among its own members to the Sevas Board of Directors.
• It may appoint an auditor to monitor and review the company’s financial and administrative management.
• It cooperates with tenant committees and residents. It creates conditions for a good residential community, with the aim of promoting pleasant living and residential peace.
• It organizes recreational and leisure activities that support housing comfort and open interaction among residents.”
