MTV and Elisa are currently in negotiations regarding the distribution agreement for MTV’s channels. For the time being, the channels are available as normal, and residents are not required to take any action at this stage.
If an agreement is not reached before the end of the current contract period (12 May 2026 at 11:59 p.m.), there may be an interruption to the live broadcasts of MTV’s channels (MTV3, MTV Sub and MTV Ava) on Elisa’s network. The interruption would affect live broadcasts both on cable TV and on Elisa Viihde. However, recording programmes and watching them during recording (with an approximately 3‑minute delay) will still be possible via Elisa Viihde.
Elisa’s solution for residents:
If an interruption occurs, Elisa will offer residents an alternative viewing option. Elisa will provide residents of the property with the opportunity to use the Elisa Viihde app free of charge for one month. The subscription will end automatically after this period, so no automatic billing will occur.
With the Elisa Viihde app:
- Programmes from MTV’s channels can be watched as recordings and also during recording (with an approx. 3‑minute delay)
- Viewing is possible on a smart TV, mobile device or tablet
- The service is easy to activate and does not require any additional cabling
The aim of this solution is to ensure residents have an alternative way to watch programmes in exceptional circumstances and to minimize disruption in residential properties during a possible interruption.
